Benue Residents Complain Over Outrageous Electricity Bills (See Reactions)

Electricity consumers around otukpo have lamented the outrageous billing by the Jos Electricity Distribution Company JEDC.

Speaking with correspondent residents of Asa otukpo complained that the recent exorbitant bills are not commensurate with the frequency of power supplied.

Tenants of Ochekawo apartments said the bill for three units of about two bedroom jumped from #9,000 in August to #12,000 in September and 32,000 in October.

Another resident in Asa Willy Abogonye said the bill for his uncle’s house in GRA with only the boys quarter in use was 9,000 and has been raised to 22,000 while the family house is Asa with 6,000 bill received 15,000 for October.

Also a resident of Eupi Jummai Edoh and Anthony Abah of pipeline said their bills were increased by well over 100 percentage even though the light is not regular as it is heavily rationed.
Similarly a resident of Ojira Peter Idoko said the billing is just being increased anyhow like their which was taken from 8,000 to over 9,000 even though the light is not stable.

When contacted the regional manager was not on seat to clarify issues at the time of filing the report as he was said to have gone for a meeting.
