Benue teaching service board uncovers over 400 ghost workers

Benue state teaching service board has uncovered 433 ghost workers, including 18 dead persons in its payroll.

The board’s executive secretary, Frank Kyungun made the disclosure on Wednesday while presenting report of the recent screening exercise conducted by the board to Governor Samuel Ortom. 

Presenting the report the secretary said, “The screening uncovered 433 ghost workers on the payroll after verification of 4,473 staff across the three senatorial zones of the state. 

Other discoveries made include“The uncovering of 18 dead persons, 70 retired staff, 193 redeployed staff, among other irregularities on the payroll, who were accordingly expunged.”

Responding the state Governor Samuel Ortom said he has constituted a committee to immediately implement the committee’s recommendation.

The committee which is to be headed by the state commissioner for education, Dennis Ityavyar, is to identify and prosecute “Those who had milked the board through ghost workers and “The ghost names should be immediately deleted from the payment voucher”.
