Communal Crisis: Chief Alapa Visits Otobi Community

Chief Nelson Alapa has decry the conflict between the people of Ijegu in Obi local government and Ojantelle, otobi communities in Otukpo local government area all in Benue state.

Speaking during his visit to Otobi over the incident chief Nelson Alapa who lauded their effort and wisdom in handling of the issue to stop it from escalating promised to reach out to the government for assistance in ensuring lasting peace in the area since it is the farming season to forestall food crisis.

Chief Alapa said the crisis is just out of ignorance being they are one because of the history of intermarriage both the igedes and idomas in the warring communities.

Explaining an elder in Otobi Alechenu Ekwo said there was no history of misunderstanding between them but they simply woke up to accuse them of destroying the circuit breaker to stop them from having light, along with stopping patching of road around that area from getting to their community which resulted to wanton killings and destruction of properties.

Elder Ekwo called for help from relevant agencies since the Ijegu people are still up in arms against them.
