Delta state SSG, Com of Information test positive to COVID-19

The cabinet of Delta state Governor Ifeanyi Okowa has announced on Sunday, June 21, that two cabinet members have tested positive to COVID-19.

The government named the two members as the Secretary to the State Government, Chiedu Ebie, and the commissioner for information, Charles Aniagwu.

The short statement said the two officials developed mild symptoms and decided to go for testing which came out positive.

They have now been taken to an isolation centre where they are responding to treatment.

Olisa Ifeajika, the official spokesperson for the governor, also confirmed the development in a statement in Asaba, the capital of the state.

Ifeajika appealed to the residents of the state to adhere strictly to the COVID-19 protocols as anyone, irrespective of status, could contract the virus.

The development is coming less that two weeks after governor lost a commissioner, Hon. Joyce Overah.

The cases of the SSG and the information commissioner now adds to the list of patients in the state and Nigeria.
