Taraba State
Government has ordered a total lockdown of the State effective from 11 pm of
Wednesday, 21 April, 2020.
The deputy governor of
the State, Alhaji Haruna Manu disclosing this during a broadcast on Tuesday
said the action became necessary because of the increase in number of confirmed
cases of coronavirus in neighboring states.
Manu said that
roadblocks have been mounted at boundaries between Taraba and all neighbouring
states, as well as all local government areas that shared international
boundaries with Cameroon and the police directed to arrest and prosecute those
violating the lockdown, adding that movement of persons and vehicles is banned.
Other things suspended
includes “Mosques and Church services , wedding, naming ceremonies and all
large gatherings till further notice” while People will be allowed to come out only on Wednesdays and
Saturdays from 10 am to 2 pm to buy essential items.
