Late Chief Of Army Staff General Attahiru, Others Laid To Rest (Photos)

President Mohammadu Buhari has stated that the late Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Ibrahim Attahiru would be remembered for his landmark contributions in the service of the nation.

President Mohammadu Buhari stated this at the burial ceremony of the late Chief of Army Staff, officers and men of the military who died in a plane crash in Kaduna on Friday, 21 May, 2021.

As the nation bid its final farewell to the gallant officers and men of the military, the President represented by the Minister of Defence, Retired Major General Bashi Magashi described the Late General Attahiru as a man of confidence and dedication who died in the service of the nation.

“General Attahiru is an icon of professionalism and would always be remembered for his outstanding performances”.

While expressing condolences to the families of the deceased, he stated that all the officers and men who were tragically cut short in the ill fated flight were focused and dedicated to the service of the father land and their services will not be forgotten.

The Chief of Defence Staff, General Lucky Irabor while speaking at the event said the Armed Forces of Nigeria remain undaunted and will march on in determination. He said the death of the colleagues are not in vein while assuring that security challenges are for a moment and officers remain resolute as he called on all officers and men of the armed forces to rise to the occasion regardless of what has happened as they continue to defend the nation against its adversaries.

The Chief of Policy and Plans Army, Major General Benjamin Ohanatu in his vote of thanks appreciated government for its continuous support to the armed forces as the country says goodbye to the 21st Chief of Army Staff.

Among the dignitaries at the Occasion were the Chairman House Committee on Army, Speaker of the House of Representatives, Governor El-Rufai of Kaduna state, Service Chiefs among others.
