The leadership of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) has condemned the killing of 43 rice farmers in Borno  State by suspected terrorists.

CAN in a statement by Pastor Adebayo Oladeji, Special Assistant Media and Communications to the CAN  President Rev Samson Ayokunle calls on the security agencies to stop the unending mass killings by the criminals all over the country especially in the Northeast and Northwest of the country.

CAN President Rev Samson Ayokunle in the statement said they are shocked, disturbed and saddened to learn that the terrorists invaded the Garin Kwashebe community murdering innocent farmers while harvesting their products.

Rev Ayokunle described the number of persons killed as “not only frightening but inexcusable by those who should have prevented it” saying the massacre was wicked and completely satanic.

The christian body also frowned at the situation where farmers are being taxed by the terrorists and bandits before they are allowed to work on their farms called on government to stop it before it is too late.

CAN went on to call on security agencies to wake up from their prolonged slumber and save their image while urging government to think out of the box and take adequate steps to bring the terrorists to their knees rather than finding excuses to justify failure of governance.

The body however assured of not to give up praying for the nation and giving of advice to the government and went on to pray God to comfort the relatives of those who were killed and save Nigeria from total collapse.
