The Minister of State
for Science and Technology, Barrister Mohammed Abdullahi, has called on the
elders of Nasarawa State to encourage their children to focus more on Science
Courses like Mathematics, Biology Physics and Chemistry to ensure meaningful contribution
of the state to national development.
The Minister made the
call, when the APC stakeholders of Nassarwa Local Government paid him a
courtesy call in his office in Abuja.
Barrister Abdullahi in
a statement by the representative of the head, press and public relations, Maryam
Zakari said his advocacy for science education was not in any way underrating
the humanities but to bridge the knowledge gaps with regards to science and technology
education in the State.
He further restated
that the Ministry is working through his various agencies to ensure that
substantial number of Nigeria is lifted out of poverty in line with the
commitment of President
The minister said “we
support this initiative by creating programmes that will add value in terms of
life, jobs, security and welfare generally while reiterating that ‘’this is not
something we will achieve on a platter of gold, since everybody must tighten
his belt because the road ahead is going to be rough but there is going to be
light at the end of the tunnel’’
The Minister also
called on the stakeholders to give full support to the Governor of Nasarawa
State, Engineer Abdullahi Sule in his efforts to develop the state.
Barrister Abdullahi,
equally recalled the massive support he received from the people of Nasarawa
when he contested for different positions in the state, stressing that the bond
of friendship should continue, adding that he will be there to protect their
interest.
He later thanked the
APC stakeholders for their visit and urged them to continue with such both at
local, state and National level.
Earlier, the Welfare
Secretary of the APC local Government Stakeholders Mr. Isaiah Koki Azah thanked
the Minister for his warm reception and assured him of their support.
He further prayed for
God’s guidance and protection for the Minister all though his administration.
