NCDC announces 490 new cases of Covid-19, total now 17,148

The coronavirus pandemic has suffered a setback as Nigeria recorded 31 deaths and 490 new cases of Covid-19 on Tuesday, June 16.

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control NCDC), in a tweet, announced the new cases in 16 states which brought the total confirmed infections to 17,148.

The disease control agency announced 142 in Lagos, 60 in the Federal Capital Territory FCT) Abuja, 54 cases in Bayelsa, 39 in Rivers and 37 in Delta.

NCDC also announced 30 fresh cases in Oyo, 26 cases in Kaduna. Imo has 23 new cases while Enugu and Kwara states have 19 and 17 cases respectively. Ondo recorded 10 new cases while Bauchi has 8 cases. Ogun state came behind with 7 cases, followed by Borno which has 6 and Benue state with just one case.

5,623 people have been discharged having successfully survived the virus while total fatalities now stand on 455 after 31 deaths were recorded in 24 hours.

Lagos still remains the epicentre of the coronavirus pandemic in Nigeria with 7461 cases.
