Large crowds gathered at Auckland’s Sky Tower after COVID restrictions forced them to be cancelled a year ago.

More than a million gathered along the waterfront in Sydney, Australia, for the city’s New Year’s Eve celebrations while more than 7,000 fireworks are launched from the top of the Sydney Harbour Bridge and a further 2,000 from the nearby Opera House.

New Year celebrations went ahead in China despite its nationwide surge in COVID infections with events helded at the Great Wall in Beijing.

Shanghai Disneyland is also holding a fireworks show to welcome 2023.
