Nigeria’s COVID-19 cases now 51,304 with 340 new infections as death toll rises to 996

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) announced that the nation now has 51,304 cases of COVID-19 after recording 340 new infections in the night of Friday, August 21.

NCDC in a tweet on its page revealed that the death toll from the coronavirus pandemic is 996 with 37885 discharged patients who have fully recovered from the disease.

The national health agency also disclosed from its chart that Kaduna is now top on the list among high-risk states in relation to the virus with 63 new infections, while the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) has 51 cases added to what it already has.

Next is Plateau state which has 38 more infections as at Friday night.

Lagos state, which had been the epicentre for the pandemic in Nigeria for a very long time, comes fourth on the list with 33 cases.
