The Director General
of the National Youth Service Corp, Brig. General Shuaibu Ibrahim has directed
that artificial limbs be provided to Nuruddeen Tahir who lost his hand in an
auto crash.
The corper who is an indigene of Kano state
had one hand before coming to the NYSC orientation camp in Jalingo but lost the
second hand in an accident shortly after passing out from the camp.
Nuruddeen along with
18 other corps members was on July 8 involved in an accident on their way to
Gembu town, the headquarters of Sardauna local government area where they were
posted for their national service.
NYSC coordinator in
the state, Florence Yaakugh in a statement said the attention of the NYSC in
the state was drawn to the appeal made by some persons on social media for
money to treat Nuruddeen.
She said apart from
the directives by the DG to provide artificial limbs for Nuruddeen, the Taraba
state Governor Darius Ishaku had taken care of the bill for the treatment of
all the corps members involved in the unfortunate incident including Nuruddeen.
The NYSC state
coordinator, alerted the public that nothing was required to foot the bill for
the victims as that has been taken care of and the appeal for assistance was by
fraudsters who wanted to cash on the incident to extort money from innocent
Nigerians.
Ladan said the
replacement process has begun as the doctors had made steady progress for
completion of the implanting of the limbs.
