Otukpo Youth Protest Against Soddy Power Supply By JEDC( Photos/Video)

Youths and residents of Asa and GRA Otukpo on Tuesday protested against the complete power blackout on the area blocking access routs around old Otobi road and it environs.

Speaking the leader of the protesting youth Adikwu Alechenu said the demonstration became necessary to show their greviance since today makes it a year they have been without electricity despite making an initial donation that was given to PHCN in Otukpo for the installation of transformer.

Alechenu describing the situation as unacceptable since it has adversely affected the economic and social life of the area said politicians in Idomaland area aware of their plight but are yet to respond since they have no regard for them and their plight.

Another youth and a concerned resident of the area Austine Inalegwu said last year February they protested over same issue and where by the Officials of JEDC Otukpo that the situation would receive attention but uptil now there is no power supply since the transformer brought is fake and does not work.

Vehicles could be seen by our correspondent being turned back from the various points where the road blockades were mounted even the convoy of honorable Hassan Saleh a senatorial aspirant of the Benue south senatorial district.
