LOVE ENVIES NOT
By DIGC 12 September 2021

Envy is a manifestation of the bankruptcy of love.

SCRIPTURE: …charity envieth not…1 Corinthians 13:4

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: Envy is a manifestation of the bankruptcy of love.

The Scripture makes it clear that love is the nature of God (1 John 4:8).

Now, one of the characteristics of love is that love does not envy (1 Corinthians 13:4). This means, envy is a manifestation of the bankruptcy of love.

I would like you to take note of the following points on love that envieth not:

  1. Love never boils over with jealousy.

The Amplified Version puts 1 Corinthians13:4 this way:

…love never is envious nor boils over with jealousy,

Love is not envious. Love does not boil over with jealousy. It is wickedness for a person in business to push away his fellow from the same business because he thinks he deserves the business better.

Also, it is wickedness for a strange woman to step into the family of a happily married couple, and drive the wife out just to inherit both the man and his properties. When love is absent, wickedness is in place.

  1. Love does not give in to covetousness.

Love does not give in to covetousness that results in jealousy. Love doesn’t wish that what others have was theirs.

People who love do not wish that what others have was theirs. It is good to appreciate great things in the lives of people and trust God for similar things. But it is not good to wish that you are the one who has what others have. That is wickedness. Love does not envy.

Remember this: Envy is a manifestation of the bankruptcy of love.

ASSIGNMENTS:

  1. Make up your mind to put away every form of envy and wickedness from your heart.
  2. Love people liberally.

PRAYER: Lord, I ask for a fresh impartation of the Spirit of Love. I refuse to give in to any form of envy, bitterness and jealousy, Lord, in Jesus’ Name.

QUOTE: If you harbour, even for a minute, the act of bitterness or unforgiveness, you are indirectly putting on the nature of satan the devil. Culled from “AM I BITTER?” by Dr Becky Paul-Enenche.

DAILY READING: Daniel 7-9

REFLECTION: Walking in love is the surest way of walking with God because God is love. A heart hardened against people stems from a life that is devoid of God.

PROPHETIC DECLARATION/WORD: May the love of God remain fresh in your heart and may God cause your life to be a blessing to your generation.
