SERVING GOD JOYFULLY – AN ACCEPTABLE FORM OF SERVICE
By DIGC 05 October 2021

If your service to God would not be done joyfully, it should be left completely.

SCRIPTURE: Serve the Lord with gladness: come before his presence with singing. Psalm 100:2.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: If your service to God would not be done joyfully, it should be left completely.

The Scripture makes it clear that the major purpose for our existence is for the pleasure and worship of God (Revelation 4:11). God created us to show forth His Praise (Isaiah 43:21). And service to God is a department of worship and praise to God.

Therefore, it is very important to know how to serve God acceptably.

Now, service to God must be done joyfully, not mournfully.

In serving God, you must do it joyfully. When you stand to clean the chairs in the House of God, do it joyfully. When you stand to do ushering work, do it joyfully. As a traffic controller, work joyfully, not angrily with a frown on your face.

Beloved, if your service to God would not be done joyfully, it should be left completely. It is a waste of service to be frowning and angry with everyone while on assignment for God.

Psalm 100:2 says,

Serve the Lord with gladness: come before his presence with singing.

If you won’t serve God with gladness, don’t serve Him at all.

Malachi 3:14 says,

Ye have said, It is vain to serve God: and what profit is it that we have kept his ordinance, and that we have walked mournfully before the Lord of hosts?

You can’t serve God mournfully and see the profits of service. A mournful service is a profitless service. Serving in depression is serving to no pleasure to God and no profit to man.

Beloved, determine never to serve God in anger and depression; serve the Lord with joyfulness of heart always.

Remember this: If your service to God would not be done joyfully, it should be left completely.

ASSIGNMENTS:

  1. Reject the temptation of serving God with anger and depression.
  2. Serve God with joy always.

PRAYER: Lord, deliver me from serving You angrily and mournfully. I receive the grace to serve You joyfully, Lord, in Jesus’ Name.

DAILY READING: Malachi 1-3

REFLECTION: Service is a privilege for man, not a favour done to God; God can exist without the input of man but man can never exist without the input of God. Be advised!

PROPHETIC DECLARATION/WORD: The rewards of excited service shall keep flowing in your life in Jesus’ Name.
