The Nigerian senate have extend an invitation to the Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Isa Pantami, over the growing rate of insecurity in Nigeria.

This decision which was arrived at on Wednesday during plenary has been described as timely by some security watchers as E.F. Network Ltd a technology company, recently launched an anti-kidnapping solution.

The technology company last month launched the solution-efphonetaxi, an app designed to recover phone owners’ data from lost or stolen phone, also has an anti-kidnapping tool to help combat kidnapping and other crimes the Police and other security agencies are daily battling to unravel in Nigeria.

The senate had mandated committees on Legislative Compliance and Communications to invite the Minister of Communications and Digital Economy so they can impress on him the need to implement the resolutions of the Senate regarding security related to the mandate of his ministry.

Rising under Order 42 and 52 of the Senate Rules, Senator Emmanuel Bwacha (PDP – Taraba South), noted that “the rate of insecurity in Nigeria has reached a melting point” as bandits, terrorists negotiate for ransom using telephones and get away with it”, querying, “how can we be so negligent and insensitive to the safety and security of citizens?”
