Traditional ruler goes into coma after attack by hoodlums

HRH Godwin Aigbe the traditional ruler of Ukhiri community in Ikpoba-Okha local government has been attacked by hoodlums who shot and stabbed him severally. Currently, the monarch has gone into coma after the attacks.

 The hoodlums stormed his palace in a suspected reprisal attack and inflicted injuries on him.

The reports indicate that the hoodlums shot at him after which they stabbed him severally and used plank to break his bones, the hoodlums were also said to have destroyed five cars in his house.

The king is said to be at loggerheads with Ulegun community over 222 hectares of land and both communities have been at cold war over the land since 1975.

Speaking on the issue, Kingsley Aigbe, younger brother to the injured monarch called for investigation on the matter. Meanwhile, Osayande Okhuarobo, a member of the community narrated what happened during the attack. “Women were cooking and we were outside the canopies. Later, we saw people running towards us saying boys from Ulegun have destroyed some houses. “The hoodlums came and chased us away. A tent outside the palace was burnt. The Enogie called the police and the boys were chased away by the police. “We were surprised they came back 30 minutes later and shot sporadically at the palace.”
